Adjusted patient days

Our hospital has been high in supply cost per adjusted patient day according to the Action Data and CHIPS data in spite of a very agressive standardization and expense reduction program. I was curious if the more outpatient business a hospital does makes a hospital look worse because of the way the adjusted patient discharge is calculated.
